Privileges:
Ø       The use of the internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use could result in cancellation of
        these privileges.
Ø       The school administrators will deem what is inappropriate use and their decision is final.
Ø       The school administrators may close an account at any time as required.
Ø       The administration, faculty, and staff of the LBLSD may request the technology coordinator to deny, revoke,
        or suspend user accounts.

Ø       User accounts may be suspended temporarily or indefinitely.

Ø       A student’s suspension of privileges due to disciplinary action could negatively affect the student’s grade in
       one or more classes, depending on the class requirements.


Network Etiquette And Responsibilities:

You are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette.  These include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ø       Be polite.  Do not get abusive in any message or work you complete.

Ø       Use appropriate language.  Do not swear, use vulgarities, use threatening or racially inflammatory language, or any
        other inappropriate language.

Ø       Do not reveal your personal address or phone number to anyone.
Ø       Do not use the network in a way that you would disrupt the use of the network by other users.

Ø       Do not intentionally seek information on, obtain copies of, or modify files, data, or passwords belonging to other
        users, or misrepresent other users on the network.

Ø       Use of the internet to access, process, distribute, display, or print pornographic material, other offensive messages
        and pictures, inappropriate text files, or files dangerous to the integrity of the school computer(s) and/or the
        school’s network are prohibited.  (i.e., viruses)

Ø       Malicious use of the network to develop programs that harass other users or infiltrate a computer or computer
        system and/or damage the software components of a computer or computer system is prohibited.  Students must
        avoid intentionally wasting limited resources.

Ø       Privacy in communication over the internet and the school network is not guaranteed.  To insure compliance with
        these guidelines, the District reserves the right to monitor, review, and inspect any directories, files and/or
        messages residing on or sent using the school’s computers/network.  Illegal activities will be reported to the
        appropriate authorities.

Ø       Use of the internet and any information procured from the internet is at the student’s own risk.  The District is not
        responsible for any damage a user suffers, including loss of data resulting from delays, non-deliveries,
        misdeliveries, or service interruptions.  The District is not responsible for the quality or accuracy of information
        obtained through its services.  Information (including text, graphics, audio, video, etc.) from internet sources used
        in student papers, reports, and projects should be cited the same as references to printed materials.

Ø       Use should be for educational purposes only.  There will be no access to home e-mail accounts, games, or surfing,
         except for research purposes.
