                                   An Internet email newsletter

                        connecting the alumni of Bath High School

                  Volume 2, Number 3 ------------------ November 2002

<HOME ROOM LINK>

Welcome to <BATH LINK> a newsletter for and about Bath alumni --

anyone who graduated or attended Bath High School. It features

information about classmates, reunions, school events, teachers, plus web

site links, a pop quiz, some humor and other items of alumni interest. The

newsletter, due to having 45 graduating classes (and all are important), is

somewhat long. It is suggested that if you don't have time to read it all

right now, save it in a special folder named, "BATH LINK," and then read it

when you do have the time.

(Ed. Not: A couple of explanations for you out-of-towners: The ISP used for

the email address of bathllink@wcoil.com, WCOIL stands for West Central

Ohio Internet Link. In the newsletter some postal addresses may be listed

as Elida, OH, when actually it really is in Bath Township, just in the Elida

Post Office delivery area. Also, thanks to all of you who took the time to

reply to the inquiry of "Are you related to..." The newsletter subscriber list

has grown to over 1200. So, please keep me posted on any email address

changes.)

<BATH SPORTS LINK>

   The Wildkitten's incredible 46-game winning streak was broken in

Ashland in the Division II softball state semifinals. Maybe it was the rain,

maybe it was the cold weather, maybe it was fate, but it wasn't lack of

defense or heart that Bath lost 1-0 to the Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit who

won one more game to become state champions.

  A true team effort through out the season, with star pitcher Grace

Luginbuhl getting 26 wins and coach Laura Ford getting career victory No.

400 in her 19th year at Bath. To name the outstanding stars on the team

would require to list the entire rooster.

 So, the four graduating seniors are 2B-Sarah Alger, 3B-Leslie Arnold, P-

Grace Luginbuhl and C-Tessa Mosley; the four juniors are OF-Amanda

Barnes, 1B-Korrie Collins, DH-Janika Horrison and CF-Andrea Plaugher;

the five sophomores are OF-Caitlin Bradley, OF-Jenny Sawyer, RF-

Stephanie Sielschott, LF-Mary Simindinger and 1B-Brittany Taylor; the three

freshmen are OF-Jenna Andrews, LF-Amanda Cogley, SS-Amanda

Houchin. Great season, great team!

<1959 CLASS LINK>

It is with deep sadness the following is reported.

   Francis Sylverster "Boog" Ginter, 61, of Kodak, TN, formerly of Lima, died

at 2:30 p.m. May 26, 2002, at his residence.

   He was a member of the Class of 1959, however he quit school after his

junior year in 1958. To his credit, he later went back to school, not for a

G.E.D, but a full diploma and graduated in 1974 from Lima Senior High.

   He was born July 12, 1940, in Lima to Arthur Ginter and Betty Ginter

Johnson, who preceded him in death. His stepfather, Carl Johnson,

survives in Fort Wayne, IN. His wife, Cathy (Schiffler) Ginter, survives.

   Francis retired in 1989 from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He was a

native of Ohio. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Tennessee.

   Survivors also include a son, Dan (Betsy) Ginter of Mooresville, NC; two

stepsons, Cain Treadway and Luke Treadway; both of Kodak, TN; two

daughters, Cheryl Schiffler and Christine (Scott L.) Frueh, both of Lima; a

stepdaughter; Nikki Treadway of Kodak, TN; a brother, Arthur (BHS'58)

(Carol) Ginter of Lafayette; six grand-children, Tierra Schiffler, Tiffany

Hyter and Robert Frueh, all of Lima, Tyler Ginter and Chance Ginter, both

of North Carolina, and Chloe Treadway of Tennessee; and a

great-grandchild, Madison Hyter of Lima.

   He was preceded in death by a sister, Barb Ginter; and a

great-grandchild, Maridian Hyter.

   (Ed.Note: Like a number of you, the last time I saw Francis was at the '59

Class reunion in 1996 at the Lost Creek Country Club. Unfortunately that

night, he quietly slipped away from the gathering when classmates were

given an opportunity to stand up and talk about themselves. Obviously, he

wasn't much for public speaking and as the MC that night, I never would

have asked him to speak if he'd rather not. I admired Francis for going back

to school and graduating from high school, something that must have been

difficult for him, since he was five years older than his classmates. After

working at Ford and retiring to Tennessee, he built a beautiful two-story

home, again something to his credit.)

Jeanette (Gross) Lawrence (BHS '59) is a successful realtor with over three

million dollars in sales in the Orlando, FL, area. She has a son and two

career, he served as senior fire investigator, fire inspector, association

president, lieutenant, captain, and assistant chief. He also had farmed for

several years and retired from Roundy's in 1995.

   Born July 17, 1941, in Logan County, he was the son of Charles B. and

Isable Taylor Knotts, who survive in Lima. On June 10, 1962, he married

OH, and Amy Shaw (BHS'95) of Marysville, OH; and a sister, Ursula "Sue"

Jenkins of Columbus Grove, OH; and four grandchildren.

Since the Class of '60 has never had a class reunion, several members are

seriously talking about having one this year. It would be an odd year, the
