Grades 10-12 Offered Alternate Years [2004-5] Prerequisite: Technical Drawing I or Pre-Engineering Wood Technology or Instructor Approval Students will learn to draw, draft and design by using CAD as a tool to prepare for 21st century technology. They will develop skills in producing different types of graphic illustration for industrial fabrication. Architectural experiences will be applied by allowing students to create residential design plans illustrated by a 1/12 scale model. Avenues of communication and expression will be enhanced by applying applications such as Microsoft Office and AppleWorks. Paint programs can be explored to enhance creative skills and give pupils an appreciation for the freelance artists. The procedure for creating mechanical drawings, charts, graphs, symbols, diagrams and pictorials will be learned. Students can learn to use a plotter, scanner, video camera and digital camera. Click art, spread sheets and desktop publishing programs may be utilized for a more professional visual presentation. 3-D CAD using Super Home Suite will be utilized to design plans that illustrate virtual construction details. Robotics will be explored by programing 6 motor operations on a robot with laptops. Technology students can pursue their interests in architectural design including areas such as landscaping and rendering, interior design, plus electrical and structural drafting. Surfing the Internet will serve as a tool for information, art, design and generation of ideas. Internet in the classroom will be explored by navigating to interactive sites such as smart houses, robotics, landscaping, "Building Big" and other related topics. Professional advice by e-mail communication will play a vital role in the planning of technology projects. After a semester of hands-on experiences the students will be prepared for higher learning experiences in a variety of technical fields. 2nd Semester Course / Fee $20.00 |
