Electrical Terms and Formulas

Watts = volts x amps

Amps- unit to measure current

Volts- unit to measure voltage

Ohms- unit to measure resistance

Electrical power unit = Watts

Kilowatt Hours = Watts x hours / 1000

Cost of Electricity = kilowatt hours x the cost per kWh

To find the cost of electricity per month, read your electric meter once a month to determine the number of kilowatt hours used; then take the kWh x the cost per kWh.
