How Things Work Web Quest:

Engine Subsystems and Components

You are going to do a more in depth study about the subsystems and components that make up internal combustion engines.

Choose an engine component or subsystem from the following list:

Topics

Choose a topic that you are genuinely interested in finding out more information. Your interest and enthusiasm will ultimately make you more knowledgeable of an engine system and components.

Once a topic has been chosen, navigate to the link at the Technology Education Home Page:

Once you have reached the "How Stuff Works" web site scroll down the page to the "how car engines work" link which is classified under Top Ten Questions, click on it. From there scroll to the bottom of this page until you find the "engine subsystems" link and click on it. Keep in mind that you can also follow the related links that are associated with your topic.

Keep a written record of the web page names and the web page addresses that you have navigated to, also save pictures (jpegs) and animation links. You will use this information later when you create a power point presentation using the text information, pictures (jpgs) and animation links that you have found on the Web.

The power point presentation will include a title (page) slide which will contain your name and the title of your presentation. Following the title page which will be 4 to 6 slides containing information, pictures and animation links pertaining to your topic.

This section of 4 to 6 slides is going to be like a condensed research report. These slides need to describe what your topic is and how it works. Use any pictures to illustrate what you are describing. Finally your last slide will need to contain the names and addresses of the web pages that you got information. Remember you were supposed to record web addresses, web page names, and the dates (optional) as you visited those sites.

When you are finished with your power point presentation save it to your Bath LAN account and drag it into the TE-BHS shared folder so that it can be graded by the instructor.
