Offered Alternate Years [2005-6]

Basic woodworking is a course of study that is designed to build a fundamental understanding of the classification, characteristics and uses of wood.

Classroom work includes drawings, unit tests, videos illustrating the latest trends in technology, completion of work books using the textbook for reference and formulas to determine material costs plus other fabrication processes.

After the completion of general hand tool and power safety, the student will be expected to construct a variety of woodworking projects. Freshman and Sophomores can design and fabricate a car for the Grand Prix contest that is annually sponsored by Apollo.

The computer will be used to explore computer aided design, thus challenging the student's creative abilities. Students will also perform tasks on the Internet to investigate the world of wood technology beyond their classroom walls.
