Text Box: Pohlman’s compete at State Public Speaking
On Saturday, March 15th, Joel Pohlman and Chris Pohlman continued their success in the public speaking Career Development Event as they competed at the state level. Joel participated in the beginning prepared contest and Chris in the creed speaking contest. Joel had to write a four to six minute speech about an agricultural topic of their choice, recite the speech, and answer questions about it. Chris, on the other hand, recited the FFA Creed and answered a set of questions. Both of these contests are very competitive, by qualifying for the state contest, both Joel and Chris had to place in the top two at sub district and district competitions. Chris placed among the top twenty Creed Speakers in the state of Ohio. Joel placed 3rd overall in the state competition. The skill of public speaking is yet another life-skill that the FFA instills in its members, which will aid to their future successes. Congratulations to Joel and Chris on a job well-done!

Text Box: Freshmen members of the Delphos FFA spent a day on the farm or at a local agribusiness to enhance their education and appreciation of the various sectors of the agricultural industry. The experience teaches students about real world agriculture and allows them to apply skills and techniques learned in the classroom.
The Delphos chapter is ranked in the top 10 for student development activities, which includes the Freshmen Experience Program.
"Freshmen Experience is an excellent way for students to experience what I am teaching them in the classroom and also for them to start to develop a Supervised Agriculture Experience Program. They gain hands on experience needed be well-informed and establish a good work ethic," said Agricultural Education Instructor, Scott Elwer. "FFA members worked hand-in-hand with 15 local farms and business from the Delphos area for the day. Whether it was a seed dealer, vet, swine, beef, or dairy farm, students gained knowledge of what it is like working on a daily basis in the agricultural industry." The various pictures below depict the many scenes and lessons learned during this busy day.
