unit credit) Course 181. Design - This course will cover principles and
elements of design. The color wheel will be introduced and studied.
Experiments with pencil, color pencil, ink, tempera and some cut paper
and craft work is included. Art appreciation will be introduced through
the use of slides, films and lectures.
ART II (1/2 unit credit) Course 281. The first part of the year consists of a general study of the fundamentals of drawing with pencil, charcoal, and ink. The second part of the year will be spent of learning the basics of watercolor and acrylic painting. Art appreciation will be explored through the use of slides, films, art magazines, and lectures. (Non-academic) ART III(1 unit credit) Course 381. An introduction to the many ways of printing will be given to the students. Linoleum prints, wood block prints, etching, and silk-screening will be explored. Experiments with different methods of hand built pottery and wheel-throwing will be offered. Crayonbatike will also be presented. Art appreciation will be explored through the use of slides, films, art magazines and lectures. ART IV(1 unit credit) Course 481. In-depth study of drawing, painting (watercolor and acrylic) ceramics and silk-screening will be given to the advanced art student. An introduction to oil painting will be presented. An art history unit will be presented through the use of slides, films, art magazines, lectures and trips to museums from the Prehistoric Age to present day art. Prerequisite - two years of art and the approval of the teacher. |
