AG SCIENCE I (1 unit credit) Course 174. This is a split block Academic Class. This is the first of a series of courses which when combined with course number 274 will give the student some agricultural background along with 1 unit of science credit. The student will study from the following areas and topics:
Environmental Science - Sciences and the environment, Natural resources management, and Integrated pest management
Plant Science - Plant physiology, Plant reproduction, Common crop production, and Ornamental plant growth and production
Personal Development - Leadership and occupational development, Parliamentary law, and Public speaking
Business Management - Developing an SAEP (Supervised Agricultural Experience Program)
Mechanical Sciences - Wood Skills and Technical information- Drawing and basic design techniques, Calculating amounts and types of lumber to purchase, Hand and power tool terminology use and care, Constructing a wood project

AG SCIENCE II (2 credits) Courses 274 and 278. Blocked full-year Academic Classes. Students are required to enroll in both courses. Course 274 will be first semester and course 278 will be second semester. In these courses the student will study the following areas:
Mechanical Sciences - Metals and their properties, Welding machines design and use, Oxyacetylene equipment use and purpose, Using various metal and forming equipment, Small engine design, use and care, Measuring, repairing, and replacing parts to a small engine
Animal Science - Animal physiology, Animal nutrition and health, Genetics breeding and reproduction, Management systems, and Marketing animal products

AG BUSINESS I (1 unit credit) Course 376. (SAE included) This course is designed to give the student who is interested in the field of Agriculture and its related businesses an opportunity to learn sales, techniques of salesmanship, personal finances, goals, human relations, personal development, and career explorations. Also discussed will be job skills, equipment feasibility, fleet records and maintenance. Cooperative placement will also be discussed and encouraged. This is a blocked Academic Class. Fee: $50.00.

AG BUSINESS II: (1 unit of credit) Course 473. (Prerequisite: 376 and 378 are encouraged. This course concentrates on the work place environment and general operations of a business. Aspects of Business such as insurance, financing, communications, sales, products processing, and distribution will be discussed. Human Relations in the work place will be a major topic of research and discussion. Also, a computer program called Statistic Process Control will be included in the course. This program stresses quality control in a processing plant. Various tours to local businesses will be included to better define the types of businesses and their contribution to the community. AG BUSINESS CO-OP (2 credits) Course 474. This is an on-the-job training (OJT) program open to any senior Ag. Business student who has completed Ag. Business 376. Placements start June 1 of the senior year and must include 540 hours of supervised instruction and placement on the job. The job should be Ag. related; however, due to changes in career plans, another place of employment could be acceptable upon approval of the instructor.
