ART I (1
unit credit) Course 182. Design - This course will cover principles and
elements of design. The color wheel will be introduced and studied.
Experiments with pencil, color pencil, ink, tempera and some cut paper is included.
Students will improve drawing ability by employing perspective, gesture
and contour drawing methods. Art history/ appreciation will be
incorporated with each lesson through the use of video, computer and
textbook instruction. This is a blocked academic class that fulfills
1 unit of Humanity credit. Lab Fee: $20.00 ART II (1 unit credit) Course 282. This course is a general study of the fundamentals of drawing with pencil, charcoal and ink with an emphasis on the human figure. Various printmaking methods will be introduced. A unit of clay methods will be incorporated. Some craft work is included. Art history/appreciation will be incorporated with each lesson through the use of video, computer and textbook instruction. This is a blocked academic class that fulfills 1 unit of humanity credit. Lab Fee: $20.00 ART III (1 unit credit) Course 380. An exploration of the many ways of printing will be given. Linoleum prints, wood block prints, and silk-screening will be explored. Experiments with hand built pottery and wheel-throwing will be offered. The basics of acrylic and watercolor painting will be covered. Art history/appreciation will be explored through the use of video, computer and textbook instruction. This is a blocked academic class that fulfills 1 unit of Humanity credit. Lab Fee: $20.00 ART IV (1 unit credit) Course 481. In-depth study of drawing, painting, ceramics and silk-screening will be given to the advanced art student. Projects are individualized and student-initiated to a great degree. Portfolios will be developed for students going on to art schools and/or careers. Art history/appreciation will be explored through the use of video, computer and textbook instruction. This is a blocked academic class that fulfills 1 unit of Humanity credit. Lab Fee: $20.00 Art IV Independent Study (1 unit credit) Course 482. Designed for students considering an art career, including portfolio preparation according to professional art school or college entrance requirements. This course is for highly motivated and talented students. The process of creativity will include creative problem solving based on a variety of media both two and three-dimensional. Painting and sculpture, art history and appreciation will be included. Fee: $20.00 ART V (1 unit credit) Course 491. Independent study in art as on opportunity for the experienced and motivated art student to explore and area of investigation that hold personal interest. Students must obtain approval from the guidance counselor and art teacher. Lab Fee: $20.00 |
