Physical Education: course 188. These classes meet everyday for a semester. Rules, regulations, basic skills, and knowledge of fundamental body movement is presented in each of the following team activities: soccer, dodge ball, field hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, basketball, softball, whiffleball; individual sports; ping pong, weight training, badminton, archery, and swimming, track and field, and bowling (when possible). Students may be separated within classes by sex for participation in wrestling, floor hockey, flag football, basketball and other contact sports.
Two separate standards or sets of standards, one for females has been developed for evaluation of physical skills or performance. A single standard is used measure individual student improvement. This is a blocked Non-Academic Class.
Athletic option: Course 189. Students can earn credit for Physical Education through their summer extracurricular athletic activities. Credit will be given based on total hours of physical workout. Coaches will be required to report total hours to the Principal for credit. A workout time log may be required from the student. Students can earn approximately a 1/4 credit each year for football, basketball, track, cross-country, baseball or softball. A maximum of 1 credit may be earned or 1/4 per year.
Health evaluation: Course 257. This course is open to all Sophomores and any students who could not schedule it their sophomore year. This course offers the student an opportunity o study about the importance of good health, heredity, mental problems, family, marriage, divorce, diseases, vitamins, vital organs, digestive, respiratory and urinary systems, eyes, ears, teeth, nutrition, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and a variety of other topics. Successful completion of C.P.R is required. This is a split-block Academic class
