MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL…..
“A
Commitment to Excellence”
– I am proud to say that DJHS has reached this goal through the state report
card. It takes several pieces to
fall into place to reach this accomplishment and our teachers have worked very
hard under pressure to ensure this opportunity.
The current junior class is the first class to meet all 5 OGT (Ohio
Graduation Test) standards with all categories over the 90% passage mark. Also
extremely important to our report card and success to education is attendance.
Our high school attendance rate was a 95% last year!
Thanks goes out to our parents stressing academic excellence in our
students at DJHS. We are preparing
to maintain our excellent rating for the future.
Congratulations to the following on their fall success:
Austin Clarkson (1st Team All NWC in Golf); Ashley Rode
and Jordan Guillen(Homecoming Queen and King); Fall Sports success with all
league votes coming soon; Dean Renner, Chad Hoersten, and Dulton Moore on their
Regional 1st Place finish at The Big “E” for Farm Business
Management (The Big “E” includes all the eastern states); Lots of things to
be proud of here at DJHS!
Progressbook: The
on-line grade book is up and running. Every
parent should have a username and password to monitor their student’s grades.
If you do not have this access, please contact Mr. Edinger at
419-695-1786 x 201. Teachers are to
have grades updated by Monday afternoon each week.
Parent/Teacher Conferences: Conferences
are scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, November 11th from 5:30
p.m. – 6:45 p.m. with National Honor Society Induction at 7 p.m. and all day
Thursday, November 13th from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.; 12:30 p.m. –
3 p.m.; and 6 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. If
you would like to have a conference with any teacher please call 419-695-1786
x200 and schedule a time. As always,
if these times do not work you can contact any teacher by e-mail to set up an
individual time. When you get a
chance in your busy day, take the opportunity to thank your child’s teachers
for what they do. I have been in
this profession for 25 years and can say that it is one of the toughest
professions. Not only are we
educators, we take on roles of nursing, counselors, entertainers, security, and
parental figures. Send them an
e-mail or letter, or better yet – talk to them in person.
