Wildcats rough up Polar Bears

DELPHOS - Jefferson scored 17 runs in the bottom of the first inning Friday evening and cruised from there as the Wildcats defeated Hardin Northern 20-2 in five innings.

The No. 14 team in Division IV got three solid innings out of Sean Fisher as he allowed only one hit and two walks while striking out three to earn his first victory of the season. The win improves the Jeffcats to 10-3 overall. The Polar Bears fall to 3-10.

Hardin Northern's only runs came in the top of the fifth on a double by Tommy Wheeler. Wheeler's 1-for-3 performance and Trent Bryant's 2-for-2 night (one run scored) produced 75 percent of the Bears' hitting total as Jefferson's staff held Hardin Northern to just four hits.

Jefferson's offense had no such trouble, cranking out 15 hits.
