Miller Twirls 1-Hitter vs. Jays

MCGUFFEY — Jefferson’s baseball team had the bats a-blazin’ Saturday afternoon, hammering out a total of 41 runs and 42 hits, in sweeping Upper Scioto Valley 16-0 and 25-2.

The Wildcats (9-5) also got some great pitching as well.

In game 1, Sean Fisher (3-1) went the distance (5 innings) in ceding a mere one hit, fanning eight.

He also received tons of backing, led by Josh Miller (4-for-5, 3 RBIs), Aaron Schuerman (3-for-4, 2 RBIs), Damon Joseph (3-for-3, 2 RBIs) and Ryan Kortokrax (a home run and 2 RBIs).

Jefferson scored 13 runs in the third inning.

In game 2, Miller (2-1) gave up two hits, two runs and one base-on-balls, striking out seven.

The Jeffcats plated 10 runs in the second and six each in the third and fifth.

Fisher led the offensive assault with a 5-for-6 game (including a HR and 2 doubles), with five RBIs and five runs. Miller (4 RBIs), Schuerman (2 RBIs) and Kortokrax (2 runs batted in) all went 3-for-4. Taylor Hesseling (1 RBI) went 2-for-2, while Adam Kraning (3 runs batted in) and Adam Wollenhaupt (1 RBI) went 2-for-3.

USV fell to 4-10.
