Lady Cats Get First Win of Season

PAULDING — Jefferson’s fast-pitch softball team had been struggling with its youth, starting 2008 0-5.

The Lady Wildcats finally got that zero out from under the win column, riding a no-hitter from senior ace Shauna Bowers (1-3) to down Paulding 2-1 in Northwest Conference action Thursday in Paulding.

“I’m not sure what a schneid is but we started to climb off of it tonight,” Jefferson coach Brad Rostorfer said.

Bowers surrendered a run on a walk and a dropped fly ball but got her first win of the young season when Courtnie Rostorfer got the game’s only hit in the second inning with runners on second and third with two outs to score two.

Jefferson is back in action at home Monday versus Spencerville.
