Pizza Hut Book-It Program

Dear Parents,

Our class will be participating in the Pizza Hut Book-It program this year.  I have set a goal for our class for each student to read a total of 30 minutes a week for the months of October through March.  Your child will have a calendar for each month to track the progress of his/her reading.  Please write the total number of minutes read, either daily or at the end of each week, on the calendar.  Also, please sign or initial the calendar each week.  I will check calendars every Monday to see if your child has met his/her goal.  If so, they will receive a sticker.  At the end of the month, if they have met the the goal of reading each week, your child will receive a certificate for a FREE one-topping Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.

Reading is a very important skill to learn and students benefit if it is developed early in school.  And, as reading skills improve, so does the likelihood that they will enjoy reading.  The purpose of the Pizza Hut Book-It program is to encourage reading outside of school to improve skills and foster an interest in reading.  Please encourage your child to participate.  Consider having them read to you and have fun tracking the progress together.  The kids also enjoy the recognition and the reward.

Thank you for your help to kick off a successful reading campaign!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Barclay
