Perry Loses to Allen East in Sectional Finals The Perry Commodores bowed out of the Division 4 sectional tournament with a 5-3 loss to Allen East. The Commodores dug themselves a 5-0 hole to start the game and could not recover. Congratulations to Senior Brandon Stoodt on 4 great years in the Commodore baseball progam and we wish him the best of luck at Defiance College.
Perry Beats Marion Catholic Perry used a strong pitching performance and good hitting from Senior Brandon Stoodt to beat Marion Catholic on Thursday 5-0. On the mound, Stoodt pitched 7 innings, giving up 0 runs, 4 hits, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. At the plate, Stoodt went 2-4 with a triple and 2 RBI's. Jesse Stevens also had 2 hits for Perry, now 6-9 on the season. Perry will return to the diamond on Friday when they host Temple Christian in a non-league game at 5:00pm.
Perry Loses to Ottoville Perry had Ottoville right where they wanted them...a 3-0 lead with 5 outs to go and then the wheels came off. 4 Perry errors led to 7 Ottoville runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to give the Big Green the win at Ottoville 7-4. Jordan Kohnen pitched 5 1/3 innings of 1 hit baseball until a line drive hit him in the left chin and took him out of the game. David Miller had a double for Perry, now 5-9 on the season. Perry will return to league play on Thursday when they host Marion Catholic at 5:15pm.
Perry Splits Doubleheader With Ada Perry traveled to Ada on Saturday and came away with a doubleheader split. In the first game, Branodn Stoodt pitched 7 strong innings while the offense was led by freshman Trevor Wallace who had 4 hits in the game. In the second game, the Commodores came up short losing 14-3. Justin Hyde had a home run for the Commodores, now 5-8 on the season. Perry will return to the diamond on Monday when they host the Fighting Irish of Marion Catholic at 5:00pm.
Perry Finishes Off Pioneers Perry finished its rain shortened game with Temple Christian on Friday night beating them 9-0 at Temple. Jordan Kohnen got the win for Perry while Brandon Stoodt led the Commodores offensively by hitting a 3 run homerun in the first inning off of Temple pitching.
Perry Drops NWCC Game To Tigers Perry dropped thier third NWCC game last night losing to Waynesfield 8-2 at Commodore Field. Waynesfield used 4 costly errors to score 8 runs on the Commodores, now 3-6 on the season. Perry will return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to Fairbanks for another NWCC game.
Perry Sweeps Twinbill From Mustangs In game 1 of a twinbill on Saturday, the Perry Commodores used a strong pitching performance from Brandon Stoodt to beat the Allen East Mustangs 8-2. Stoodt also had two hits including a grand slam home run in the 6th inning for the Commodores. Drew Lane had a triple in the game for Perry. In game 2 on the afternoon, Perry got a two out bases loaded single by Beau Blake to beat the Mustangs 9-8 in the bottom of the 7th inning. Blake was a pinch hitter in the game and that was his only appearance of the day. Eric Wantland went 2-3 for Perry and Drew Lane had a triple for the Commodores and Trevor Wallace had a double for Perry. Perry used a number of pitchers in the game after a long week of games. David Miller pitched in a home run for the Commodores now 3-5 on the season. The Commodores will return to the diamond on Monday when they host NWCC rival Waynesfield at 5:00pm.
Perry Drops Tight One To Jefferson Perry lost a close battle 6-4 to Jefferson last night. Brandon Stoodt pitched 5 good innings but came up short on the mound. Perry had a 4-2 lead in the 5th inning when the Wildcats fought back and scored 3 runs in the 5th off of Stoodt. Jordan Kohnen came in for relief in the 6th, but the Commodores couldn't mount a comeback in the 7th. Perry is now 1-4 on the season and they will return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to Riverside for a NWCC game at 5:00pm.
Perry Gets First Win Of Young Season! Perry used a strong pitching performance from Jordan Kohnen and some timely hitting to garner their first win of the season on Monday by beating Upper Scioto Valley in NWCC play 7-3. Kohnen pitched 7 innings giving up 7 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 1 and walking 3. Then win leaves the Commodores with a 1-3 record and a 1-1 record in the NWCC. They return to the diamond on Wednesday when they host the Wildcats of Delphos Jefferson at 5:00pm.
Commodores Up 7-0 When Rains Came!! The Perry baseball team put up a quick 5 spot on Temple Christian on Thursday night before the rains came and washed the game out in the 4th inning. Brandon Stoodt hit a monster home run to left field in the first inning to put the Commodores on top 3-0. Junior Jordan Kohnen was pitching a gem for Perry holding the Pioneers to only 1 hit in 3 innings. Perry pushed across two more runs in the second inning before rain halted play. A make-up date for the continuation of the game has not been announced yet.
Commodores Drop Third In A Row! The Perry baseball team dropped it's third straight game on Tuesday night as they lost 9-3 to MAC opponent New Knoxville. Brandon Stoodt pitched 6 innings for Perry giving up 11 hits and 5 earned runs. Stoodt had 4 walks and 5 strikeouts in the loss. Jesse Stevens paced the Commodore offense with 2 hits including a triple. The boys will return to action on Thursday night when they take on Temple Christian in NWCC play starting at 5:00pm.
