Middle School Teachers

Jim Baumgartner

Mr. Baumgartner's inspiration to become a teacher was his high school football coach/social studies teacher. He began teaching at Spencerville in 1995. He graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School; he received his education degree at Ohio State University and his masters degree in counseling from the University of Dayton. His wife's name is Joy, and together they have two girls named Sierra and Quincey with a third child on the way.  In his free time he loves to watch and coach sports, and one of his greatest interests is reading the bible.



Josie Belton

Mrs. Belton graduated from Wauseon High School. She graduated from the University of Eastern Michigan, with bachleors' degrees in Dance and English Education. She orginally went to college for Dance Education, but then when she student taught in an English classroom she loved it. Instead, she became an English teacher and has been teaching sense August of 1996. Her husband's name is Jason and he is a fireman. They have two children,  Jordanand Jillian. They also have two dogs named Patches and Probie, and two cats C.C. and Harley.  If she wasn't a teacher she would be a choreographer for a dance company.

Joanne Brenneman

Mrs. Brenneman has always enjoyed school and appreciated teachers who made their classes interesting and informational.  She wanted to be a part of helping other students have a positive education experience.  Mrs. Brenneman began teaching at Spencerville in 1979 and has held various positions, including tutor, Title 1 Reading, and Intervention Specialist.  Prior to teaching at Spencerville, she taught one year in Brazil, South America, and one year in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  She has also taught GED and ESL classes in the area.  Mrs. Brenneman graduated high school from DeKalb in Indiana.  She then graduated from Huntington College in Indiana with an Elementary Education degree and obtained certification as an Intervention Specialist through UD and WSU.  Her family includes her husband Brent, daughter Kendra and her husband Dustin (with  grandson Jackson), Kyle and his wife Emily, and Luke.  In her free time she enjoys traveling, photography, music, and watching sports.  She also plays the keyboard/organ in a worship band at her church.   If Mrs. Brenneman wasn't a teacher she might have chosen a job working overseas in some way because she loves learning of other cultures. 



Beverly England

Mrs. England has two sons named Michael and Aaron.  In her free time she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.  She graduated from Spencerville High School and received a bachelors degree from OSU in Elementary Education and a masters degree from Marygrove College.  She started teaching in the fall of 1988.



Dennis Fuge

Mr. Fuge graduated from Miami East High School and was an undergratuate at Ohio Northern University.  Mr. Fuge started teaching in the fall of 1981.  He went on to graduate from the University of Dayton. If he was not in education he would be self-employed and be in some type of business. He is married to Pat Fuge and together their children are Kory, Erica, Tricia and Jenna. In his free time he enjoys sports, collecting sports memorabilia, working on his house and gardening, and also enjoys following up on his children's many acitivities. 

Janis Griffin

Mrs. Griffin began teaching high school and middle school choir at Spencerville in 1992-1993. She also teaches general music. Her extra curricular duties are the All School Musical, Varsity Singers, Talent Shows, Operettas, and the Solo and Ensemble Contest. She is married to Rev. Rob Griffin. Her sun Jonathan is a graduate of Spencerville and is currently a freshman at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her daughter Elizabeth is currently attending Grand Lake Christian School in St. Marys. According to Mrs. Griffin if she had spare time she would like to read lots of books!


Mike Harmon
Mr. Harmon was inspired by multiple coaches and teachers in high school and college. He said they had fun with their jobs and they really changed the way he viewed things in life. Spencerville is his first teaching job and he began in 2003. Mr. Harmon graduated high school from Elida and received a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters of Education degree. He and his wife, Heather, have three sons, twin boys named Ethan and Gavin, and a younger son, Carson. They also have two dogs, Raven and Riley. He loves to hunt, fish, and spend time with his kids. Most of his free time during the summer is devoted to the Lima Junior Golf Association. If he wasn't a teacher, his biggest dream would be to be a professional fisherman.

Amy Hoback

Mrs. Hoback is the wife of Shane, and together they have two daughters, Emma and Claire. Also a part of this family are two dogs and a gold fish. Their names are Wolfgang, Lilly, and Rose. Mrs. Hoback graduated from Spencerville High School and Bluffton College. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and also in Special Education. She received a Masters degree in Classroom Education from Waldon University. Her father had  the biggest impact and was the inspiration for her to become a teacher. She also was inspired by professors in college and teachers in high school. She has been teaching at Spencerville since 1988. Mrs. Hoback loves to spend time with her kids. However, when she has time to herself she likes to read, shop, or exercise. She also loves to do things that allow her to be creative, even though the end product may not be the best! Her talent is helping other people.

Ann Kuhn

Mrs. Kuhn was inspired to become a teacher by her love of books and learning new things. She has been teaching at Spencerville since 1994. She graduated high school from North Union and college from Bowling Green State University. Mrs. Kuhn is married to James Kuhn and together they have daughters Katlin and Mallory. In her free time she likes to read books. Mrs. Kuhn couldn't imagine being anything else other than a teacher. When asked this question, her response was, "What else is there?"

Bruce McConnell

Mr. McConnell has been teaching since 1984 starting at Ada (six years) and subbing for a year.  A graduated from Elida High School and then attended ONU; he received his masters at Dayton.  His parents are the people who inspired him to be a teacher.  He has four children: Nathan, Rachel, Tyler, and Claire and is married to Jo.  He enjoys outside work and gardening.  If he was not a teacher he would be a truck driver.

Karen Miller

Mrs.Miller has always loved teaching. She taught for various church classes. This profession also allowed her to be at home with her daughter as she grew up. She graduated from Spencerville High School and started teaching here in 1983. Mrs. Miller went to Ohio State and got her Bachelor's Degree in Education and her Masters in Education at Wright State. Dave is her husband and she has one daughter, Alison, who is married to Nick Huffman. She also has three adult step-children and six step-grandchildren.  If she wasn't a teacher she would like to be a band director or possibly retired.

Melissa Prichard

Mrs. Prichard was inspired to become a teacher by Connie Anderson, her A.P English teacher in high school. She learned so much and loved that class that she wanted to provide that experience to other children.  Mrs. Prichard started teaching in the school year of 1988. She graduated from Spencerville High School, she was an undergrad at Ohio State for English Communications, and she got her masters at the University of Dayton in School Counseling. She has a husband of nineteen years, Clarke. Together they have 4 children, Paige, Dak, Paris, and Dalty. They have 2 labradoodle puppies - Mac and Mo. If she wasn't a teacher, she would be a life coach or a family counselor. Her dream is to be a motivational speaker.



Cindy Rammel

Mrs. Rammel loves reading, cross stitching, visiting the kids, and working in her flower bed in her free time. She is married to Don Rammel and together they have Stephanie, Don, Michael, and Ian. They have around eighteen fish in their aquarium. Mrs. Phyliss Fell, her seventh and eighth grade teacher inspired her to become a teacher. She graduated from Spencerville High School  and recieved her bachelor's and masters degrees at OSU-Lima. She first started subbing all over the Lima area and then found her home at Spencerville where she has been teaching since 1996. 


Lori Schwartz
Mrs.Schwartz started teaching at Spencerville in 2003 and also taught at Holy Rosary school in St. Mary's. She graduated from Spencerville High School. After high school she attended Ohio Northern University and earned a dual degree in Management/Business Administration and Sociology. She also attended Wright State University-Lake Campus and earned her teaching certification. She then attended Bowling Green State University to earn her Masters degree in teaching. She is married to Ron Schwartz and together they have three children, Ashley, Kyle, and Trenton. If she was not a teacher she would want to be a funeral director to follow in her father's footsteps. 



Kevin Sensabaugh

Mr.Sensabaugh is married to, Gina and has two sons Owen and Will.  He graduated from Spencerville High School. He was an undergrad at Ohio Northern University and received his masters degree from Marygrove College. Mr. Sensabaugh entered this field because he heard it wasn't difficult to find a job and he also wanted to coach. He started teaching in 01-02 and began caocthing basketball in 02-03.  In his free time he likes to golf and loves watching college basketball. If he wasn't a teacher he would like to be a college basketball coach.

Pam Shumate

Mrs. Shumate has been teaching at Spencerville since 1991.  She graduated high school from Wapakoneta Sr. High and College from Malone.  Here she received a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Education.  She also attended the University of Dayton and received a masters in Educational Administration.  She knew she wanted to do something that made a difference.  Teaching allows her to do this and have holidays and summers to spend time with her kids.  Ed Shumate is her husband and together they have children Tyler, Lucas, and Alexandria.  If she wasn't a teacher she would love to farm or to be a veterinarian.

  

Stephanie Thuman

 

Mrs. Thuman has been a teaching aide at Spencerville since 2006.  She graduated from Spencerville HS and went on to receive her teaching degree from Bluffton University.  She was inspired to teach by her kindergarten teacher Mrs. Elshire.  Her husband's name is Matt.  In her free time Stephanie enjoys reading, camping, and spending time with her friends and family.  If she wasn't a teacher she would be a childcare provider/nanny because she enjoys being around children. 
 

Josh VanGorder
 

Mr. Van Gorder has been teaching here since 2005.  He taught for four years at Paulding before coming here.  He graduated from Northwestern High School and BGSU with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.  In high school he was passionate about music and teaching so he decided to put them together.  His wife is Alison and they have two sons named Joel and Carson.  Josh likes to spend time with his family, serve in his church music ministry, and play sports and video games occasionally.  If he wasn't a teacher then he would want to tour with a professional jazz orchestra.

 

Tom Wegesin

Mr. Wegesin graduated from Delphos St. John's High School and he has a diploma from Northwestern Business College in Auto Diesel. He also graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Educuation and a masters in Teaching and Learning. He wanted to be a coach and teaching is just coaching in a classroom. Or is it coaching is just teaching in athletics? Either way he enjoys what he does. He started teaching in the 1996-1997 school year. In his free time he likes to go fishing in Minnesota, or anywhere that the fishing is good.

Billie Wood

Billie Wood loves her job because she has the same schedule as her children and the people she works with are great! She's been working at Spencerville Schools since 2006; she worked five years at US Bank and fifteen years as a cosmetologist.  She graduated from Spencerville High School and The Ohio State Beauty Academy.  She's married to Scott and together they have two daughters Cierra and Amelia. They also have a dog named Max. In her free time she likes to read, walk, and jog.  If she wasn't a secretary she would go back to being a cosmetologist.

Brian Woods

Mr. Woods started teaching in the school year of 1996. Before being employed by Spencerville he was employed at Carey Schools for 1 year and Vanlue for 1 year. He graduated from Carey High School and Bluffton College with a Bachelor's of Art in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. He also attended Bowling Green State University for Middle School Administration and Supervision. His wife is Julie and they heve two daughters Leah and Sarah, and one son Michael. They also have two dogs and two cats. In his free time he enjoys watching, playing, and attending sporting events. If he wasn't an athletic director, he would like to be a lawyer.



Julie Woods

Mrs. Woods has been teaching at Spencerville since 1996.  For her first two years of teaching she taught at Waynesfield-Goshen.  Her father was the one who inspired her to go into teaching.  She also was inspired by Debbie Morrison and Connie Anderson when taking their classes in school.  She graduated from Spencerville high school and from Bluffton University.  Her degree is in special education grades K-12 and English grades 7-12.  Brian Woods is her husband who is the school's elementary physical education teacher and athletic director.  Together they have children Leah, Sarah, and Michael .  They also have two dogs and two cats.  If she wasn't a teacher she would like to be a stay-at-home mom and a writer.
 

LuAnn Youngpeter
Mrs. Youngpeter started teaching in the school year of 1980.  She graduated from Spencerville herself before going on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from ONU and her masters in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy.  Mrs. Youngpeter became a teacher because she loves working with children.  Her husband's name is Mark: her children are Janelle and Jeffery.

John Zerbe

Mr. Zerbe was inspired to be a teacher from the great teachers and coaches he had growing up.  He was raised in a phenomenal school system and always wanted to give back what was given to him.  Mr. Zerbe started teaching at Spencerville in 2009.  Before starting here, he taught at Temple Christian for 2 years, Delphos Jefferson for 1 year, and at Elida for 3 years.  Mr. Zerbe graduated from Elida High School and with a B.S. from Ohio State and a M.A. from the University of Findlay.  The Zerbe family includes his wife Brooke and their two children, Claire and Zack.  In his free time Mr. Zerbe enjoys time with his family and at church.  If he wasn't a teacher he would be in full-time ministry.
