Safety Team Meeting met December 1, 2004 at 7 AM in Joyce Jackson’s classroom.
Joyce reported that the Employee Safety link on the school’s web-site is now fully operational. Therefore, all incident reports should be initiated and reported on the on-line forms, copied by the supervisor of the employee’s department, and sent to Joyce and Lisa Dobbins. Notification of a change within the report of incident form in terms of the time frame for reporting incidents was presented. The form now states that incident report forms must be completed and submitted within 24 hours.
Concerns were voiced about employees that do not have access to the web-site at school. Joyce will generate an employee update on procedures and other information to be distributed by supervisors of each department to their staff. All safety team members do have e-mail access at home.
Joyce reviewed the school’s 10-step action plan, recently submitted to the Bureau of Worker’s Comp. Specifically, steps 1, 2 and 6, or the required steps in year one, were reviewed. Strengths were discussed, as well as the weaknesses addressed by the Bureau. Weaknesses mainly deal with the area of injury and accident investigation and reporting. Therefore, a training session has been scheduled for December 7, 2004 from 8 AM to Noon for all supervisors. This will be conducted by Mona Weiss, Bureau of Workers Comp representative.
Joyce reported on follow-up to the Safety Alert issues from the previous meeting. All future alert issues are to be sent via the form on-line, and will be addressed to respective supervisors, with follow-up actions being reported to the Safety Team.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 24, 2004 at 7 AM in Joyce Jackson’s room.
