This nine weeks students in grade four have been working on the following musical skills:

1. Reading rhythms in 4/4 and 2/4 meters

2. Reading rhythms which include eighth notes, quarter notes, half notes, and quarter rests.

3. Recognizing melodic patterns using the pitches do, re, mi, so,  and la

4. Identify phrases in a song.

Songs we learned were:

"Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder

A folk song from Trinidad and Tobago called "I Let Her Go, Go"

An African American Game song called "Way Down Yonder In the Brickyard"

A traditional Inner Mongolian Song called "Mongolian Night Song"

An Irish song called "Hi! Ho! The Rattlin' Bog"

A  two-part Southern Appalachian Folk Song called "Fed My Horse"
