BASICS FOR THE DIGITAL CAMERAS

These cameras are for TEACHER USE, not for student use.  Special permission for student use may be obtained from the Technology Coordinator.

You MUST have a floppy disk in the camera before you start taking any pictures.  There should be at least one disk in the camera bag.  The disks go in on the right side of the camera with the disk facing you (not the side with the circle) when you are looking at the back of the camera.

On the back of the camera, under the LCD screen, there are two sets of buttons.  The button on the right is where you turn the camera on and off.  Pull the button to the right until it clicks and the camera will come on.  To turn the camera off, you pull the button to the right again until it clicks.  The button on the left has 3 choices – play, still, and movie.  To take a picture, you want it set on STILL.  To look at the picture after you have taken it, set the button to PLAY.  Use the round button under the power switch to move from picture to picture.

To zoom in and out, use the black button under the button that you push to take the picture on the right front side of the camera.  Let it sit for a few seconds so it can auto focus.  Hold the camera very still when you are taking the picture – you’ll get better results that way.

To get the disk out of the camera, you pull down on the disk eject button on the back right of the camera until the disk pops out.  Be sure that your hand is not over the disk when you are trying to eject it.

The pictures are saved as JPEG files and can be pulled into almost any program.
