Computer/Computer Lab Guidelines |
Computer
use at McComb is encouraged and made available to students for educational
purposes. The school retains ownership in all hardware and software.
The school reserves the right to inspect, copy, and/or delete all files
stored on school owned computers and/or equipment.
Students
must observe the following guidelines. Failure
to do so will result in the penalties listed below.
1.
Files stored on school computers and/or equipment are restricted to
school related assignments only. Personal
files may not be stored.
2.
Network password security is the responsibility of the student.
Any student unable to log into the network for any reason will be
subject to the penalties below.
3.
Students shall not damage or alter any hardware or software.
4.
Students shall not use or alter another person’s password,
files, or directories. Students
aiding teachers are restricted to using only the program selected by the
teacher.
5.
All non-school software and diskettes must be checked for viruses and
approved for use by a network administrator before being used on any computer.
6.
Use of all telecommunications is restricted to school related projects
and must be supervised by the teacher or network administrator. Internet users must complete an Internet Use Consent form, be
properly trained, and be approved before using the Internet.
Penalties:
Penalty applied is determined by the teacher and/or network
administrator. Building principal
may be involved.
| First offense: | 2 week
loss of computer privileges or 25 point grade reduction in |
| Second offense: | 4 week loss of computer privileges or 50 point grade reduction in class where offense occurred applied to the current grading period. |
| Third offense: | 9 week loss of computer privileges. |
| Fourth offense: |
Loss of computer privileges for remainder of year. Privileges will be restored at the beginning of next school year. Any violation in the new school year will count as a third offense. |
Students
receiving the loss of privileges penalty will have their passwords changed
during the penalty period. Teachers
may request reinstatement of lost privileges for a student only for the purpose
of completion of required assignments. A
student reinstated under this provision must be supervised at all times.
Notification
to parents may be made at any penalty level.
Computer Lab Guidelines and Rules
(Middle School and High School)
Guidelines:
1.
Report directly to the computer lab (with the exception of first period)
2.
Sign in at the front desk
3.
Sit at the first available computer (beginning with the front row)
4.
One student per computer
5.
Place belongings in storage area under your chair
6.
Log in
7.
If using the Internet, display Internet license (picture side facing up)
on the base of the computer. If you do not have an Internet license, you may not even sit at a
computer workstation.
8.
Log out when finished
9.
Sign out at the front desk only leaving before the end of the period
Rules:
· No hall passes will be given so bring all materials with you to the lab
·
No food or
drink is permitted at the computer stations
·
All
typing and researching must be for education purposes only (teacher assignment)
·
No
playing games or checking your email
·
No talking
without permission
·
No tilting
the chairs and keep feet on the floor
·
Remain in
your seat at all times
·
Only one
color copy per student per project
·
Use the
paper holders for papers NOT books
·
Do not
download anything off the Internet without the Technology Coordinator’s
permission
·
Do not bring
programs from home to load on the school’s computers
·
If you
arrive late to the lab, you will be required to obtain a pass to get into the
lab
·
If you come
to the lab from any other class other than study hall, you must have a pass
·
If
you bring a disk to the lab, it must be checked for viruses by the lab monitor
before you insert the disk into the computer
Forgetting your password will result in the following consequences:
1st offense – 1 day loss of lab privileges
2nd offense – 1 week loss of lab privileges
3rd offense – 2 weeks loss of lab privileges
4th offense – 4 weeks loss of lab privileges
5th offense – 9 weeks loss of lab privileges
6th offense – loss of lab privileges for the remainder of
the school year
