LOADING CD ROMS

* It is best to have the technology coordinator load your CD ROMS, but if you want to do it yourself – here are the instructions.  Be aware that all users may not have access if you load the program rather than the technology coordinator. *

There are many different ways that you can load CD ROMS in Windows NT or Windows 2000.  You can choose whichever one you are the most comfortable using.  Remember that these are basic procedures - details are impossible to give for each CD ROM.

*** Note:  If it says that you must have administrative privileges to load a program, you need to contact the Technology Coordinator.

Procedure One:

Step 1:  Click on Start.
Step 2:  Click on Run.
Step 3:  Type in D:\setup and click on OK.
Step 4:  Follow the on screen instructions to load the software.  Don’t  make any changes in location.

Note:  If it asks you if you want to do a complete install or a minimum install - choose minimum.  That will mean that you need to have the disk to run the program.  This note applies to all procedures.

Procedure Two:

Step 1:  Click on Start.
Step 2:  Click on Run.
Step 3:  Type in d: and click on OK.
Step 4:  You will get a list of all of the files on the CD.  Find the file called Setup (.exe) by scrolling down if necessary.  The icon (or picture) will probably have a blue screened computer on it.
Step 5:  Double click on the icon.
Step 6:  Follow the on screen instructions to load the software.  Don’t make any changes in location.

Procedure Three:

Step 1:  Double click on the my computer icon (picture).
Step 2:  Double click on the D: drive icon.
Step 3:  Follow instructions for Procedure Two steps 4-6.

Procedure Four:

Step 1:  Click on Start.
Step 2:  Click on Settings.
Step 3:  Click on Control Panel.
Step 4:  Double click on Add/Remove Programs.
Step 5:  In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, make sure that the tab titled Install/Uninstall is in front.
Step 6:  Click Install.
Step 7:  Insert the CD Rom.
Step 8:  Click Next.
Step 9:  It will look for the 3 ½” floppy drive first, but will then go to a screen that has the command d:\setup.exe
Step 10:  Click on Finish.
Step 11:  Follow on screen instructions.  Don’t make any changes to location.
