Belief Statement
We believe that:
all students can learn given appropriate environment, time, and space
all students will learn if they have self confidence, have positive self esteem, involvement in the decision-making that affects them, and see the importance of their work and its connection to life and the future
learning is inherent in all students, and all students want to be successful
children learn from parents, peers, and the community
children are gifted in different ways. They have different learning rates, styles, intelligences, and abilities, and they respond to motivation and expectations. They will take risks in a safe climate.
learning is a continuous, lifelong process
We believe that, with stakeholder support, Fort Recovery Elementary students can achieve these outcomes:
They will be proficient in the skills basic to their level, especially in the areas of communication and analysis
They will possess a good work ethic which includes the following characteristics: organization, responsibility, independence, self-motivation, cooperation, and excellent attendance
They will get along with others and will be self-disciplined
They will be self-confident and will possess good self-esteem which will result in a "can do" attitude
They will understand that learning is a lifelong process
They will progress at their own rate and achieve to the optimum of their ability
They will solve problems, think creatively using mastered facts, and know how to access information
They will appreciate the expression aesthetics and the contributions of the fine arts and the performing arts
We, the entire staff of Fort Recovery Elementary, know that we have the commitment and capacity necessary to establish the kind of environment needed for each child to achieve the outcomes listed above. We will:
exhibit strong cooperative building leadership
provide a warm, positive, safe environment
use diverse teaching methods and styles to meet student needs
provide the learning materials, equipment, and technology necessary
emphasize basic skills, proficiency, and a solid academic curriculum based on state models
emphasize time on task
communicate often with parents and involve them in their children's learning, not only as homework helpers and classroom assistants, but in the decision making process, as well
include community members and business partners as part of our learning community
