Drunk Driver Changes Student’s Life Forever

A tragic accident occurred on Saturday, October 15, 1986 when a senior by the name of John Wintersize held a party in which alcohol had been served. Senior Marco Griggers and sophomore Isobel Lingard were the victims.

When Isobel was ready to go home she informed Marco Griggers, whom was her date for the evening, and asked if they could go. After Marco unwillingly told her they could go they went out to the car, although he had been drinking; because he was drinking he lost control of the vehicle and swerved into a tree.

Marco ended up having no physical damage. Isobel, however, suffered a horrible loss causing her to be handicapped for the rest of her life. Her left led was in horrible shape and had to be amputated causing Isobel to be in the hospital for quite some time.

While in the hospital Isobel had family and friends to visit and some of the best doctors, nurses, and therapists in the field. When Isobel left the hospital she had not yet received her prosthetic leg and was in a wheelchair, however, she was going to physical therapy sessions and training to use crutches.

Best wishes to Isobel Lingard through her physically and emotionally painful triumph.
