This year the Fort Recovery Marching Band presents music from the Broadway Musical “Chicago”. Selections include “And All That Jazz”, “Cell Block Tango”, “Roxie”, and “We Both Reached for the Gun.” The band this year is comprised of fifty-eight members including drum major Amanda Muhlenkamp, eleven colorguard members and seven percussionists.

Last year the band received numerous top awards throughout the season. At Ottawa-Glandorf, they came in 4th place in Class C and earned several awards including Best Auxiliary Class C, Best of Show Auxiliary, Best Field Commander Class C, Best of Show Field Commander, 2nd Place in Music, and an Excellent rating.  At Columbus Grove, the band earned First Place in Class C, Best Auxiliary Class C, Best Auxiliary Overall, and an Excellent rating.  Performing in Findlay, they earned 2nd Place in Class C, Outstanding Auxiliary Class C, Best Overall Auxiliary, Outstanding Field Commander Class C, Best Overall Field Commander, and an Excellent rating.  At their second-to-last contest, New Bremen, the band was awarded 2nd place Class C, Best Auxiliary Class C, 2nd place Music Class C, and finally a Superior rating earning a position at State Finals!  At Swanton, the band’s last contest of the year, they took 2nd place in Class C, Best Auxiliary Class C, Best Marching Class C, and another Excellent rating. A few weeks later, the band performed at State and earned an Excellent rating. Out of the past sixteen years the band has qualified for State ten times, receiving a Superior rating seven times.
