that the National Honor Society was founded in 1921 to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to promote worthy leadership, to encourage the development of character, and to stimulate a desire to render service?

that here at FRHS, before being selected for National Honor Society, you:
· Must be a junior or senior with a Grade Point Average of 3.3 or higher?
· Are evaluated by all high school teachers (who interact with you on a regular basis) on the quality of leadership you demonstrate in their presence?
o Are you a positive leader in your classes? Do you begin meaningful group discussions? Do you encourage classmates to ask questions that lead to meaningful learning? Do you help those who are shy or hesitant to become involved in class? Are you willing to do demonstrations or presentations in front of class with a positive attitude? Do you encourage others to enjoy learning?
o Are you a positive leader in the halls? In the cafeteria? In the gym?
o Are you a positive leader in extra-curricular activities?
· Are evaluated by all high school teachers (who interact with you on a regular basis) on the quality of character you demonstrate in their presence?
o How do you act in class on a daily basis? Are you cooperative, kind, respectful, responsible, self-controlled, and trustworthy?
o Are you respectful of adults (administrators, teachers, school speakers, custodians, cooks, etc.) in both voice and action? Are you respectful of other students in both voice and action? Do you respect yourself?
· Are surveyed to find out what types of services you provide for your school, community, and/or church, of which the members of the selection committee may not be aware?
o Do you willingly volunteer to help others, both adults and other students, without expecting anything in return?
o Are you willing to work without monetary compensation or without formal recognition in order to benefit your school, community, and/or church?
o Do you provide simple services for others on a daily basis, such as holding doors open for others when their arms are full?
· Are surveyed to discover what school, community, and church activities you have actively participated in while in high school (9th through 12th grade)?
o Do you actively participate in school activities? Community activities? And/or church activities?
