The purpose of our organization is to acquaint students with teacher education programs and requirements as well as to give students the opportunity to volunteer in classrooms and as tutors. The volunteer experience is helpful to students who are deciding if teaching is the field that they want to pursue.

The OFEA meets once a month during lunch period in the High
School Commons. The group plans a service project for the year, has students
sign up to help at the elementary school during a study hall or as an
after-school/before-school tutor, and participates in a field trip to a
college campus. This year, the OFEA plans to visit Ball State University in the
winter.
Dues to join the organization are $1.00 which goes toward the membership in the
state OFEA organization. Students at the local level are encouraged to get
involved in the state level and could possibly attend and compete at the Spring
OFEA conference.
