Jesse Owens

  • Moved to Cleveland when he was eight

  • Attended Ohio State and was an All-American

  • May 25, 1935 - Big Ten Conference Champion, broke 3 world records and tied a fourth

  • 1936 Berlin Olympics - won four gold medals: 100m - 10.3s(tying world record), 200m - 20.1s(olympic record), 400m relay - first leg 139.8s(olympic and world record), long jump - 26'5"(olympic record)

  • Died March 31, 1980 at 66 due to cancer in Tuscon
