The Raider baseball squad took the lead in the 1st inning on a Joey Sinn 2-run homer and never looked back as they opened up tournament action on Saturday with a victory over Paulding, 9 – 8. Wayne Trace posted eleven hits to help Brandon German pick up the win. Adam Miller was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, Sinn was 2 for 3, Joe Morehead was 2 for 4 with a double, and Riley Linder knocked in 2 with a 6th inning double. Ryan Davis, Evan Dasher, and Justin Davis all added hits. The Raiders will head to Parkway tonight for their next contest.

 

Wayne Trace slips by Antwerp, 3-2
HAVILAND -- The Wayne Trace Raiders opened the 2007 GMC varsity baseball season with a 3-2 win over Antwerp on Monday night.

The game was a pitcher's dual until the last couple of innings, as Wayne Trace held a 1-0 lead until the sixth inning. The Raiders then extended their advantage to a 3-0 bulge with a pair of runs.

Antwerp did not throw in the towel though, as the Archers put a scare into the locals by scoring two runs in the seventh inning. The Raiders were able to stop the bleeding, holding the Archers from scoring another run in their last at-bats, and thus collecting the hard-fought win.

Brandon German (7 Innings, 6 hits, 2 K's, 2 BB, 0 ER) took the win for the Raiders, while Laney (2 hits, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K's, 5 Innings) absorbed the setback for Antwerp.

Leading Hitters for Wayne Trace were: Brandon German (3 for 3, 2 runs); Joey Sinn (1 for 3); and Justin Davis (1 for 3, RBI).

Leading Antwerp at the plate was: Kyle Proxmire (2 for 4); Kyle North (2 for 3, run); Tim Ryan (1 for 3); and Tommy Derck (1 for 3).
