The students at St. Anthony’s have been very busy reading and acquiring points for Accelerated Reading. This year’s favorite books are two series: A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket and the Among Series by Margaret Peterson Haddix.
I recently put a notice in the church bulletin suggesting that parishioners donate to our library in memory of a loved one. The response has been overwhelming. So I have been able to purchase hardback books of the Lemony Snicket series and another series of the Haddix books along with some other books that have been recommended by students.
I also have a few more surprises for them as I’ve been able to use some of our Title V monies to order more Accelerated Reading tests to go with these new books. They will be very excited when they arrive. We are striving to add more books to the Grade 6-8 reading levels.
Some of the third grade actors and actresses are busy practicing for their first play to be presented to their classmates, parents and grandparents on Friday, November 30th in our new theater (the back of the library). We’ll be a little crowded but I think that it’s going to work out very well.
