Those participating in PEERS PLUS will choose a topic related to one of the available online courses offered by WBESC/CCESC.  All aspects of PEERS will be followed with the addition of an online course.  All members of the PEERS Plus group must choose the same course during the same semester.  PEERS PLUS proposals must be submitted within thirty calendar days from the final registration date for the online course.  PEERS PLUS members may earn one semester hour of credit for completion of the online course, as well as, an additional one semester hour of credit for completing the PEERS PLUS.

PEERS is a professional development program designed by Western Buckeye ESC.  PEERS is a researched-based, job embedded program designed by teachers for teachers.  Teacher leaders facilitate Study Tables or Action Research Teams within each school building.  Study Tables include group study sessions and peer coaching observations.  Action Research Teams involve group study sessions and independent research.

 

PEERS PLUS 2007-2008

General Information & Requirements

 

  1. PEERS PLUS Proposal must be submitted within thirty (30) calendar days from the last date of registration for the on-line course.  The team may begin to meet at the completion of the course or meet concurrently, while taking the on-line course. PEERS PLUS teams may choose a Study Table or Action Research format.
    1. A Study Table consists of 9 hours of team meetings and 3 Peer Observations per person for implementation of strategies being studied.
    2. Action Research consists of 12 hours of team meetings and 3 hours of independent research per person.

     

     

  1. During a PEERS PLUS Group the facilitator will:

    1. Recruit a team of 3 to 6 members.
    2. Submit a PEERS PLUS Proposal indicating team members, proposed meeting dates, topics for discussion, project and school district information.
    3. Plan and facilitate 9 hours of Study Table Meetings or 12 hours for Action Research.
    4. Schedule all team members for Peer Observations (if study table).
    5. Collect individual reports and time sheets from each team member.
    6. Submit Project Reports, PowerPoint, and Team Evaluation to PEERS Coordinator.
    7. Complete individual on-line evaluation at the end of the project.

 

 

  1. During a PEERS PLUS Group team members will:

    1. Actively participate in team meetings and observations.
    2. Collaborate with team members to complete Team Project Report, PowerPoint presentation, and team evaluation.
    3. Complete and submit individual reports for Ashland graduate credit or for a certificate of attendance. [See #4 & #5 below.]
    4. Complete individual on-line evaluation at the end of the project.

 

 

  1. To receive Ashland Graduate credit (one semester hour) , the following must be submitted:

    1. Transcripts or certificate of completion for the on-line course.
    2. Ashland Registration Form and payment of $259.
    3. A brief summary of the content of the course (one page or less). Please attach a course syllabus, list of assignments, required readings, etc.
    4. A reflection paper describing your thoughts, ideas, and how you will implement it into your classroom (one or two pages).
    5. Time sheet documenting: (1) time spent taking the on-line course, and (2) PEERS PLUS team meetings, observations, and independent research time totaling at least 15 hours.
    6. Ashland PEERS PLUS courses are grades Pass/Fail.

     

 

  1. To receive a Certificate of Attendance for the PEERS PLUS group, the following  must be submitted:

    1. Transcripts or certificate of completion for the on-line course.
    2. Certificate of Attendance Registration Form and payment of $40.
    3. Time sheet documenting: (1) time spent taking the on-line course, and (2) PEERS PLUS team meetings, observations, and independent research time totaling at least 15 hours.

 

  1. Upon Approval of a PEERS PLUS Proposal, the PEERS Coordinator will contact the facilitator and provide all forms and paperwork to be used for the project.  The PEERS Coordinator will be available for support for the duration of your project.
