The Western Buckeye ESC in partnership with Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University, the Northwest Ohio ESC, and the Ohio Historical Society has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Education Department (ED), The Great Black Swamp Scholars Teaching American History Grant. The timeline calls for planning for October, 2007-May 2008, with implementation for the 08-10 school years. The TAH is a three year grant. The professional development opportunities will consist of one day seminars held locally, week long seminars held at Ashland University in the summer, and PEERS Study Tables.
The one-day seminars will be planned by the Advisory Board who will take the information from the Planning Summits to be held this fall.. Presenters at the local one-day seminars will include local historians, experts in state and local history, and speakers from the Ashbrook Center. Topics will be chosen from the suggestions made at the Planning Summits. Plans are for one seminar per county.
