Unit 1 Project

Ancient Civilizations

Directions: You will be creating an Ancient World project for your test grade over Unit 1.  Computer resources, textbooks, notes, and library books may all be used to help with the project.  You will be given some days in class but you will also need to work on this outside of class.

The project will be due __________________.

Schedule:

Tuesday, October 13th  : Explain project, begin research

Wednesday, October 14th :Research day

Thursday, Oct. 15th : Research day

Friday, October 16th  : Finish researching, begin project

Saturday-Monday, Oct. 17th-19th: Finishing rough draft, begin final draft

Tuesday, October 20th: Continue work on final draft

Wednesday: October 21st : Continue working on project- almost done                                      

Thursday, October 22nd : Working on final draft

Friday, Oct. 23rd: Project due before you leave class

General Requirements:

Countries covered on the project will be Egypt, Greece, and Rome. You will need to label each of the sections/slides as well as the ancient civilizations. A Title Page will be needed  with your name and period. A list of resources that you used needs to be on the  Resource Page and included.

Picture requirements:

You will need to find a minimum of 1 pictures or some sort of graphic for each section as well, such as a picture of people, inventions, and influences.

Rubric/Grading:

Project Rubric is attached to this packet. The rubric needs to be turned in with your project. No rubric no grade! Every day the project is late you will lose 5 points. NO Projects will be accepted after 3 days.

Ancient Civilization Power point, Ancient Civilization Poster, Ancient Civilization Book

Points:

Section One -Government:                   15 points

Section Two -Contributions:               15 points

Section Three- People/Events:              15 points

Section Four-Comparison:                   10 points

Cover sheet, source, labeled, grammar: 5 points

TOTAL :                                            60 points

 

 

Section One: Government: This section will be discussing the government of each ancient country.  Include how the government was divided and the jobs of the officials, type of people that could vote, name of the group considered to be citizens. Label this section Ancient Government

 

Section Two: Cultural Contributions/Influences: This section will be discussing how the ancient country effects us today, what inventions were created there that we use today, terms or words used, systems, sporting events, or any other item that was created that effects us today. Each ancient country will need 5 items. Label this section Influences of Ancient Countries

 

Section Three: Important People and Events: This section will explain the people important to the country and events that were important to the country. Be sure to include why the person was important and what happened with the event. How does the person or event affect the nation? Include any date when possible. Creating a timeline for the events would be an idea. You will need at least 3 important people and 2 important events. Label this section Ancient Countries Events and People.

 

Section Four: Comparison to the United States: This section will be a comparision (compare/contrast) of ONE of the ancient nations to the United States in terms of the government.  Discuss how the nation is the same and/or different to the United States. Use the handout of the United States government to help. Label this section Comparisons of Government
