Washington D.C. April 3-April 7th, 2009

The biannual trip to Washington D.C. is scheduled for April 3-7th of 2009.  This is during the scheduled Spring Break in efforts to avoid disrupting regular school activities.  I welcome any and all current 6th or 7th grade students as well as parents, aunts, uncles, or grandparents to join us.  I am again using World Strides as our tour company due to their excellent reputation and past performance with us.  They provide trained tour guides, insurance, night security, 24 hour on call service and just about anything else I could ask for.

We will again be traveling by motor coach and spend 3 1/2 days touring our Nations capitol.  Sites such as the Marine Memorial, Washington Monument, War World Two Memorial, Smithsonian's, White House and National zoo are just a few of the stops we will make.  Students will get a first hand look into our history and remember it for years to come.

The Middle school teachers will continue to run fundraisers to help lower the cost of the trip.  We understand that $667 is a lot to pay and that is why we work so hard to provide opportunities to raise money.  With only one fundraiser behind us, many students have already raised over two hundred dollars or more.  If you are curious what your child has raised, just send me an e-mail and I can let you know.  We keep excellent records and want you to be informed.  Fundraiser money cannot go towards the deposit needed to register for the trip.  Money raised will be applied in one lump sum just prior to when the final installment is due.  If your child raises money and for some reason does not go on the trip, the money they earned will be put into the grade account to help with prom.  Any amount raised over the cost of the trip will also go into the grade account for prom.    If you choose not to use the installment plan you will be refunded any overpayment made once the fundraiser money is applied.  I know this is a little confusing so feel free to call if you have any questions or ideas for a good fundraiser.

The price of the trip covers everything your child will need while in DC.  Three meals, all fees, hotel and transportation are included.  The hotels have a swimming pool and the buses have TVs and DVD players.  The price of the trip assumes every child is in a room with four people.  If you are interested as an adult your price of $767 is based on a double occupancy room.  If you would be willing to room with four your price would be the same as the student's.  Just make sure to mark that on your registration form or let me know by way of e-mail.  We do not do fundraisers to help parents with the cost of their trip.

World Strides has agreed to give us the 2008 prices for our 2009 trip as long as you are registered by June 1st of 2008.  If you choose to register after that date I do not yet know what the price will be.  The deposit is $79 and should be sent directly to World Strides. You can also register on line at www.worldstrides.org.  Just use our trip ID # 17745 to get started.  You can also register by phone at (800) 468-5899.  If you register by mail, please read the back of the registration form carefully concerning the Full Refund Program.
