“I believe that teaching is my vocation. I feel honored to have worked with every student I have ever taught over the years, and I sincerely appreciate all the parents who have partnered with me to support their children's education. I believe that learning should be meaningful, challenging, and exciting for every student, and I strive to create a classroom where this kind of learning can take place--a classroom where books and words come alive and where mathematical problems create interesting puzzles to be solved creatively. It is my hope that when students walk through my classroom door they feel safe, respected, and nurtured, and they know they are expected to extend that same respect to others. I expect great things out of my students because they are ALL capable of great things, and I am delighted to be a part of Powell Elementary." |

“Education
is the key to making changes in our lives for the better. I decided
to become a teacher during elementary school. I enjoyed school,
my teachers, and learning so I wanted to help others learn. I
felt I could be really good at it. I never thought that I’d
be teaching lower primary grades when I graduated from college.
My first job was kindergarten. I moved to first grade and have
never left because teaching young children to read is challenging,
inspiring, and exciting!”
