“Teaching
has helped me realize that we are all lifelong learners. Sometimes
I feel that my students have taught me more than I have taught
them.” She thinks teaching in the primary grades lets
her see the future through the children’s eyes. |

"I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to teach the young children of North Baltimore. I personally grew up here, and now I have the honor of giving back to the community that has helped shape me into the person I am today. I feel that being raised in the community helps me connect with my students. The students need to know that they are cared about as an individual, not solely about their academic progress. To be a good teacher you have to give them the basics, reading , writing and math. To be a great teacher, you have to really understand your students lives, what’s going on at home and school. It is a cause and effect relationship, depending what is going on at home can positively or negatively effect their schooling . A great teacher also needs to be excited about what they are teaching, it will hopefully have a ripple effect and that enthusiasm will transfer over to their students. There is nothing better than seeing a student who is excited to learn, it has a positive reflection on the student’s academics. When learning is fun, it is contagious!"
