Welcome to STARS After School program at E.A. Powell Elementary!  We are one of six sites operating year-round in Wood County and together we are collectively known as The Community Learning Centers Wood County. Other sites include Glenwood Elementary in Rossford, Lark Elementary in Northwood, Luckey Elementary in Eastwood, Kenwood Elementary in Bowling Green and Weston Elementary in Otsego.

The Community Learning Center of North Baltimore STARS is licensed as a school-age childcare program through the Ohio Department of Education and is also nationally accredited through The National After School Association.  The Community Learning Center is a cooperative program made available through the Wood County Educational Service Center and North Baltimore Local Schools.  Participation and enrollment in North Baltimore STARS is open to all Powell Elementary families regardless of race, color, national origin, citizenship status, religion, or gender.

We believe our children deserve to be cared for in a safe and nurturing environment while at the same time they are being introduced to fun activities and enriching hands-on experiences that promote “learning by doing”.  Our activities at North Baltimore STARS involve the arts, science, math & problem solving skills, cultural studies, motor skills and more!  Furthermore, some of the goals we continually strive for the STARS are:

• To provide experiences that will help a child maintain or increase his/her level of literacy in reading, math and science
• To support and complement a child’s regular education experience
• To provide  activities and information that will lead a child to seek a healthy lifestyle
• To provide parents/guardians with activities that can be shared with all family members

Our afternoon in STARS begins when the school day ends.  We start out with gross motor activities either outside or in the gym, provide a nutritious snack, and allow time for homework assistance.  The rest of the afternoon is packed with fun and enriching activities that foster independence, confidence, teamwork and so much more!

HOURS OF OPERATION

The STARS after-school program is open from school dismissal (2:30 p.m.) to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  North Baltimore STARS follows the school calendar and will not be open for school vacation days, teacher work days, waiver days, or weather/cancellation days.  For more information regarding the after-school or summer program, please contact Nikki Wright at 419-308-2598.  We look forward to seeing you after-school!
